On the 30th of November, Director of the Center for Culture and Civilization Studies David Hovhannisyan participated in the 17th Annual Conference of Arabists. David Hovhannisyan gave a speech related to Army and Merscenarism in the Abbasid caliphate (9th century). The speaker answered a set of problems related to the origin of mercenaries, and the appropriate application of the term in different periods of time.
