Armenia at the Crossroads
On April 24, the international conference entitled “Armenia at the Crossroads” was held in Bucharest, organized within the framework of cooperation between the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Bucharest and the Center for Culture and Civilization Studies Foundation.
Alexandra Iancu, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Bucharest alongside Oana Valentina Suciu, Vice-Dean, and Cătălin Avramescu, Director of the Institute for Political Studies and International Relations, Romanian Academy, delivered opening speeches. The conference also featured valuable insights from Tigran Galstyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Romania.
This conference, a pivotal component of the program “Enhancing Armenia-Romania Dialogue through Academic Exchange,” is implemented with the support of the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation Foundation. Structured into three panel discussions—namely, “Diaspora and Armenianness,” “Contemporary Politics in the South Caucasus,” and “Regional Security in the Caucasus and Beyond”—the event attracted esteemed scholars, experts, and researchers from Romania, Armenia, and other EU countries.
Among the notable presentations, CCCS researcher Anna Gevorgyan delivered a report on “Iran and the South Caucasus: old interests, new realities,” shedding light on evolving dynamics in the region. YSU lecturer Erik Davtyan, Faculty of International Relations, offered insights into “The Storm Next Door: Georgia and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” contributing to a deeper understanding of regional complexities.
