“Adaptation Mechanisms” Theory
The various influences/impacts of international and regional actors through the use of information technologies, penetrating the inner realms of cultural and subcultural systems through the stream of civilizations, fundamentally change the essence of the basic values of those systems, causing problems with identity reestablishment and reformation/development.
These processes have different manifestations, being expressed in both civilizational and cultural spheres, have formulated as ideologies, concepts of state and national security, political programs and principles, ethnic and social movements, etc.
The research of the cultural adaptation mechanisms and the transformations of the state and social systems done by the CCCS staff is based on the premise, that the essence of any historical period is formed only based on its system of civilization, which is common to all cultures but can inherit/include the elements from previous civilizations.
The cultures try to solve adaptation problems within the framework of the civilizational system. The revealing of these mechanisms and the classification of its working principles will enable to solve more effectively the problems related to the struggle/competition of value systems, the challenges faced by the identity, and the issues of the management of state and public processes.
The Republic of Armenia being a part of the South Caucasus region is located at the crossroad of the newly formed megaregions. Geopolitical “regional” and “global” programs are aimed at creating a system of integrated infrastructure, which will allow the initiators of the programs to control the “circulating” resources through those infrastructures.
The above-mentioned concepts create a new type of problems for the Republic of Armenia and its society as the issues that become urgent are related not only to infrastructural issues but also to civilizational, in a broad sense, cultural ones. On the other hand, the region has a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional structure, where the Islamic factor is an important one, which makes the situation more diverse and complicated.
The examination of the cultural adaptation system and the scientific study of its constituent elements stems not only from the political and economic interests of the Republic of Armenia but also from the need to understand the logic of the current civilizational and cultural development.
The main research issues of the topic are:
- to explore the principles of interactions of the value systems and civilizational flows,
- to study the set “value systems – cultural norms – civilizational structures”, to analyze the reasons for the changes in that system,
- to analyze the regional political and social processes based on the abovementioned principles,
- to study the possibilities of changing the functions of the state and its patterns in the frames of globalization processes,
- to make recommendations based on the research results to the relevant government agencies and institutions.
